Calls and Submission Guidelines

ISPRS CALL FOR THEMATIC SESSIONS:

Thematic Sessions explore emerging and significant topics in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information sciences that are not explicitly covered or are insufficiently addressed by the existing ISPRS Working Groups within the five Technical Commissions. These sessions spotlight new developments and critical issues that have gained importance since the XXIV Congress in Nice. Their objective is to attract experts pioneering innovative methods, themes, and applications, providing them with a platform to share their research with the broader ISPRS community.

Additionally, Special Session proposals may be submitted in collaboration with one or more sister organizations. These sessions emphasize the connection between ISPRS disciplines and related scientific fields, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, expanding application opportunities, and increasing the visibility of ISPRS advancements among allied communities.

Proposals should include:

  1. Title

  2. Keywords

  3. The Technical Commission(s) into which it fits

  4. A short (one-half page) abstract of the thematic session topic stressing its importance and its relation to the ISPRS missions

  5. The name and CV of the applicants (the proposed Thematic Session Chairs)

  6. A tentative list of potential authors and papers

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

23 September 2025

CRSS-SCT CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR INVITED SESSIONS:

Proposals for Invited Sessions are invited for the Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing. Proposals from diverse and collaborative sources, including but not limited to, research groups, academia, government and non-government organizations, and industry, are welcome. We encourage contributions that reflect a wide range of perspectives and expertise, fostering an inclusive and dynamic environment for meaningful knowledge exchange.

Proposals must include the following:

  1. Title of the Invited Session

  2. A 200-word abstract describing the proposed session and emphasizing the uniqueness of this topic. The abstract should provide more detail than a brief summary of each of the presentations invited to this session.

  3. Invited Session Chairs (maximum of two), with name, affiliation, and contact information.

  4. A tentative list of five presentations to be included in this session that includes the title and author(s). Potential presenters must agree to submit an abstract to the CSRS if the session is accepted for the symposium. Submitted abstracts will undergo the regular review procedure of the symposium.  If the aim of a session is to highlight a particular area of research, proposed presentations should be led by authors from a number of different institutions. If more than five presentations are proposed, multiple session proposals should be submitted.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

23 September 2025

CALL FOR TUTORIALS:

Tutorials will be held before the Opening Ceremony, providing in-depth or foundational insights into photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information sciences. They should be educational, engaging, and relevant to ISPRS and CRSS-SCT communities, including students, researchers, and professionals.

Proposals for half-day or full-day tutorials must include a course description, instructor CVs, target audience, expected participants, and required resources. To support sustainability, printed materials will not be provided.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

23 September 2025

CALL FOR FORUM SESSIONS:

Key topics for the 2026 Congress include:

  1. Congress Legacy Project: Securing funding for geospatial activities

  2. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Geospatial

  3. Challenges for National Mapping & Remote Sensing Agencies

  4. Earth Observation Satellites

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

23 September 2025

Further topics to be considered with dedicated support:

  2. Geospatial Solutions for Development & Poverty Alleviation

  3. AI’s Role in the Future of Geospatial

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:

Authors submitting to the Scientific Sessions, Thematic Sessions, CRSS-SCT Invited Sessions, and Youth Forum must provide an extended abstract in English outlining their research approach, results, and significance. Abstracts should be 2 single-spaced A4 pages (800–1000 words), including figures, tables, and references.

We welcome submissions from industry, government, and NGOs to the Applied Session, fostering collaboration between practitioners, researchers, and students in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information sciences.

Submissions should be extended abstracts (2 single-spaced A4 pages, 800–1000 words) and may cover technological innovations, project initiatives, or applied methodologies in any ISPRS or CRSS-SCT field. Reviews will prioritize practical applications over scientific research, and marketing-focused submissions will not be accepted.

A full paper is not required. Accepted authors must submit a final revised abstract, and at least one author must register by the deadline to be included in the program.
